The tram route would serve the planned new capital.

EGYPT: The National Authority for Tunnels signed a US$1·24bn contract on August 15 for the construction of a fast tram route serving greater Cairo. Work is due to start in two to three months and will be carried out by a consortium of AVIC International and China Railway Group.
