UK: Translink’s Infrastructure & Projects Division hosted the 34th Global Level Crossing Network Meeting on October 16-17, with delegates from countries including the UK, Ireland, Croatia, Denmark, the Netherlands, Germany, Portugal and France and virtual attendees from countries including the USA and Belgium.

Participants discussed best practices and advances in level crossing safety and technology. There was a visit to Muckamore View crossing where an overbridge is being built to replace two user-worked crossings, and to Whitehead to view a full barrier footpath crossing.

‘We were delighted to host the Global Level Crossings Network and showcase our fantastic achievements on reducing level crossing risk in Northern Ireland to experts from around the world’, said Translink’s Head of Network Assurance Ian Morrow. ‘It was also very useful to hear about developments in other countries and the use of technology and best practices to ensure safety around level crossings.’
