FRANCE: The first Citadis X05 tram arrived at the Fleury-sur-Orne depot in Caen on October 4, having left Alstom’s La Rochelle factory two days earlier.

In November 2016 the city awarded Alstom a €52m contract to supply 23 trams for the 16·8 km three-line network which is being built to replace its TVR rubber-tyred guided bus system. Entry into service is scheduled for September 2019.

The tram is 33 m long with capacity for 210 passengers. It has six double doors per side, LED lighting, six passenger information screens and USB charging sockets. The tram can climb gradients of more than 8%.
