SOUTH KOREA: Hyundai Rotem signed a 111·6bn won contract with Korail for the supply of 128 electric multiple-unit cars, the manufacturer announced on October 18. Delivery of the 110 km/h trainsets is due to be completed by the end of 2019.

Most of the trainsets will be deployed on commuter lines in Seoul. Four 10-car trainsets are to be used on the Gyeongin Line, and seven 10-car sets will go to the Gwacheon-Ansan Line. Three six-car sets are to be put into service on a 20·3 km extension of the Gyeongwon Line.
