INDIA: Hyundai Rotem announced on November 7 that it had been awarded a 177·1bn won contract to supply 32 three-car trainsets for the Ahmedabad metro.

Deliveries from Rotem’s Changwon plant are due to take place between April 2019 and July 2020. The trains will have a maximum speed of 80 km/h and capacity for 782 passengers.

Phase 1 of the metro consists of two lines with a combined length of 37·7 km. Larsen & Toubro is supplying ballastless track, while signalling is coming from Nippon Signalling.
