ROMANIA: CTP Iași has taken delivery of four second-hand M6D trams from Mülheim an der Ruhr.

The trams were ordered along with seven M8C vehicles from Essen, one of which has already arrived in Iași. Following tests, all 11 trams are to enter passenger service on Iași’s 1 000 mm gauge network.

CTP Iași spent a total of €308 000 on the rolling stock, plus €217 000 for transport. The trams were built in 1984-92 and modernised in 2011-14, making them the most modern rolling stock in the city. The M6D trams have capacity for 148 passengers including 54 seated, while the M8C trams have capacity for 167 passengers including 37 seated.
