DENMARK: København metro authority Metroselskabet signed a €50m contract with Hitachi Rail Italy on March 7 for the supply of eight driverless trainsets to operate on lines M1 and M2.

To be delivered by 2020, the trains are to be equipped with signalling and communication supplied by Ansaldo STS.

HRI’s predecessor AnsaldoBreda supplied 34 trains for the opening of the metro. In 2010 it won a contract to supply 39 trains for the Cityringen line, which is due to open next year.
