GERMANY: Hamburger Hochbahn has directly awarded a consortium of Alstom and Bombardier Transportation a contract to supply 13 additional DT5 metro trainsets. The contract includes two options each for the supply of a further 16 sets.

The order brings the number of DT5 sets ordered to 131, of which 46 have been delivered to date. The trains from the latest order are scheduled to enter service in December 2020.

Alstom’s share of the contract is worth over €40m, and covers mechanical systems. Bombardier will supply electrical and traction equipment. Assembly will take place at Alstom’s factory in Salzgitter.

The 40 m long trains with walk-through interiors have capacity for 96 seated and 240 standing passengers, and include two wheelchair spaces. They are equipped with air-conditioning, a passenger information system and CCTV.
