FRANCE: Ile-de-France regional transport authority STIF has awarded Alstom a €70m framework contract to supply 22 Citadis X05 trams to operate on the future Line T9 in the Paris region. The order includes options for up to 68 additional trams for lines T9 and T10.

Deliveries are due to begin in mid-2019, with entry into commercial service scheduled for October 2020. To be assembled at Alstom’s La Rochelle plant, the 44 m long trams will be equipped with traction motors from Ornans and bogies from Le Creusot. Alstom’s sites in Tarbes, Valenciennes, Villeurbanne and Saint-Ouen will also be involved in the project.

To be designed in partnership with Design Saguez & Partners, each tram will have a capacity of 314 passengers and be equipped with wi-fi, LED lighting, dynamic route maps and eight double doors per side.

The 10 km Line T9 and 8·2 km Line T10 are expected to carry 95 000 passengers per day by 2021.
