RUSSIA: Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin opened the first section of metro Line 15 on June 3.

Also known as the Nekrasovskaya Line, the 5·3 km route runs west from Nekrasovka to Kosino, where interchange is provided with Line 7. There are two intermediate stations, at Lukhmanovskaya and Ulitsa Dmitriyevskogo.

Construction started in February 2013, and the line was known during development as the Kozhukhovskaya Line. The Nekrasovka – Kosino section runs in twin bore tunnels, whereas the next phase is being built in a double-track 10 m diameter tunnel. Test running on the initial section started on May 20.

Services operate at 6 min headways, with a fleet of 31 eight-car trainsets stabled at a 20·7 ha depot at Rudnevo, northeast of Lukhmanovskaya station.

A 9·7 km northwestern extension from Kosino to Nizhegorodskaya is due to open next year. This will add four stations, including an interchange with the Moscow Central Ring at Nizhegorodskaya.
