The Second Age of Rail – a History of High-Speed Trains by Murray Hughes, is published by The History Press, July 2015; second edition September 2020.

The figures were originally compiled as part of research for two books by Railway Gazette International’s Consultant Editor Murray Hughes: The Second Age of Rail – A History of High Speed Trains (2015, 2020), and Rail 300 - The World High Speed Train Race (1988).
