King of Prussia Rail Project impression

USA: Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority has issued a request for proposals for the third and final design phase of the King of Prussia Rail Project.

The planned 6·4 km extension of Philadelphia’s Norristown High Speed Line third-rail interurban line to King of Prussia would add five stations. Construction is expected to begin in early 2025 and run through to 2028.

‘KOP Rail will connect the three largest employment hubs in the region – Center City, University City and King of Prussia – increasing equity by increasing access to jobs and opportunities with frequent and reliable transit service’, explained SEPTA General Manager & CEO Leslie S Richards on May 9.

SEPTA included $390m for the project in its recently-released proposed 2023 Capital Budget and 12-year programme. KOP Rail is also included in the Project Development Phase of the Federal Transit Administration’s Capital Investment Grant programme.
