RUSSIA: PK TS delivered the first of 15 Lionet trams to Ulan-Ude on September 4. The tram left the company’s St Petersburg factory on August 28.

Ulan-Ude became the launch customer for series-built Lionet vehicles when it awarded sole bidder PK TS a 498m rouble contract earlier this year. The order is being financed mostly through a government grant via the Ministry for the Development of the Russian Far East, with the Republic of Buryatia also contributing.

The 100% low-floor unidirectional single-section trams are 16·7 m long with capacity for 155 passengers. They are equipped with CCTV, air-conditioning and a passenger information system.

PK TS is scheduled to deliver the second tram this month, with the remainder to arrive by the end of the year.
