QATAR: Zonegreen has installed its Depot Personnel Protection System at three maintenance and stabling sites on the Doha Metro.

The first installation was completed at the main Al Wakra heavy maintenance depot ready for the opening of the first phase of the north–south Red Line in May. DPPS has also now been installed at two sites on the east–west Green and Gold lines, which are expected to open later this year.

Seven roads at the Green Line’s Al Rayyan depot have been equipped with DPPS, including four which are fitted with powered derailers to provide physical protection for staff working in areas of potential risk.

A single road at the Ras Bu Abboud stabling site on the Gold Line has been fitted with beacons and klaxons to warn staff of vehicle movements.

Staff log-on to DPPS via personalised datakeys that enable them to protect the areas in which they wish to work without disabling the entire depot. People with higher-level access can also control vehicle movements, at what Zonegreen says is ‘a fraction of the cost of a full signalling system.’
