Singapore metro depot

SINGAPORE: A consortium of ST Engineering and Siemens Mobility has been awarded a S$180m contract to renew communications systems on the North-South and East-West metro lines and the Bukit Panjang LRT by 2029.

This covers 75 locations including stations, substations, depots and control centres, and will see the replacement and enhancement of equipment on the two metro routes plus selected existing BPLRT communications systems, the first renewal at scale since the lines opened more than 20 years ago.

‘The NSEWL and BPLRT are the most heavily utilised lines in Singapore’s rail network. Collectively with our partner, we provide deep technical and domain expertise to ensure zero disruption while deploying the new communications systems to the existing systems and train services’, said Chew Men Leong, President of Urban Solutions at ST Engineering, on September 2.
