UK: Transport for London has appointed Plexal as Innovation Operation Supplier under a multi-year partnership which aims to equip its innovation team with insights and resources to drive the development and adoption of new technologies from start-ups.
Plexal leads a consortium including Sopra Steria which will support TfL with the assessment of emerging technologies to determine their potential impact, scouting innovators with potential solutions to TfL problems, running trials with start-ups in the TfL environment, and supporting product commercialisation and revenue generation.
Founded by Delancey in 2017, Plexal facilitates strategic collaboration between government, industry, start-ups and academia.
CEO Andrew Roughan said the start-up ecosystem has changed dramatically since it first collaborated with TfL in 2018. ‘There’s a wealth of new solutions being developed in line with advancing technologies’, he said on July 14. ‘Having supported the growth of more than 1 200 businesses across public and private sector programmes, we know there’s an incredible amount of rich talent just waiting to be unearthed and look forward to helping TfL access new innovations and overcome challenges, creating an even better experience for its customers and staff.’
