First line opened 1913. Operated as 11 routes with 87 stops.
Volgograd’s network has several distinct sections, and includes a metro-style express route. An isolated line serves the southern Krasnoarmeyskiy district (route 11: 10 km, 17 stops). Another route operates in the northern Krasnooktyabrskiy district (route 13: 5 km, 13 stops); this offers interchange with the express tram at Monolit (2 routes, 17 km, 22 stops). Its first phase opened in 1984, and was extended from Pionerskaya to Yel’shanka in 2011, with much of the city centre section being in tunnel.
