UK: Commuter train operator c2c Railway is to make GoodMaps’ digital wayfinding technology available to improve accessibility at all 26 stations on its London Fenchurch Street to Shoeburyness route.

This helps passengers to independently find their way to ticket offices, platforms, lifts and other key locations, without the need for staff assistance.

LiDAR scanning and computer vision is used to create highly accurate 3D maps of stations, which are then made available through the GoodMaps Explore app and on the c2c website.

Features include turn-by-turn navigation with audio, visual and haptic guidance, real-time updates on lifts and escalators, multilingual support and customisable routes for step-free access.

‘By prioritising accessibility and leveraging innovative technology, we’re making our stations more welcoming and navigable for everyone’, said c2c Accessibility & Integrated Travel Manager Steve Scutt on October 28.
