UK: Investors Yoo Capital and DFI are to fund a peak-time London Overground shuttle service between Clapham Junction, Kensington (Olympia) and Shepherd’s Bush as part of a £1·3bn regeneration of the Olympia events venue as an entertainment destination.

The five-year agreement aims to support rising demand on the section of the Mildmay Line serving Olympia and the Westfield shopping centre.

From May 18 the additional shuttle services will depart from Clapham Junction’s platform 17, with three services increasing the morning peak passenger capacity by 20% and five services in the evening peak providing a 33% increase. Existing services to Stratford will continue to operate from Platform 1.

‘With Olympia soon to be welcoming Londoners and visitors from all over the world, our priority is to make sure that our fantastic new bars, restaurants, hotels and cultural venues, as well as our iconic halls, are easily accessible for as many people as possible’, said CEO of Olympia Estates Michael Volkert on March 27. ‘This agreement with TfL is a major step in ensuring our guests are only ever moments away from our corner of the capital, and we are delighted to have been able to play our part in making this happen.’
