UK: Transport for the North has appointed consultancy and construction company Mace to lead the programme support office for the Northern Powerhouse Rail programme.

An expanded and embedded Mace team will work on NPR over the next 12 months and beyond, with responsibility for project controls, project management, stakeholder management and commercial support to ensure a strengthened and co-ordinated approach to ensure progress of the planned programme of new lines and enhancements across northern England.

‘We’re exceptionally proud of what we’ve achieved in working with Northern Powerhouse Rail and the wider Transport for the North team to drive forwards an infrastructure programme at the top of the national agenda’, said Sean Gray, Mace’s Director for Transportation, on June 1. ‘It’s phenomenally pleasing to be continuing such important work that’s critical to the Northern Powerhouse agenda. Securing four workstreams, including the commercial management role, is a powerful testament to our capabilities in this space.’
