Midlands-based industry group Rail Forum is to launch a ‘buddy system’

UK: Midlands-based industry group Rail Forum is to launch a ‘buddy system’ from May 1, using ‘intelligent pairing’ to connect all new members with a volunteer who will provide advice on starting networking and getting the most out of membership.

This will included overcoming obstacles such as acronyms and ‘rail speak’ to help people fully understand the rail industry’s processes and ways of doing business.

‘Buddies are an extra level of welcome in addition to their Account Manager and are a short-term volunteer role to help new members settle in’, explained Membership Manager Cat Appleby. ‘Buddies will be a friendly face at events, in addition to the friendly faces of the team.’
