Borders Railway

UK: Scottish Borders Council has appointed Turner & Townsend to lead business case development and feasibility studies for the proposed extension of the Borders Railway from Tweedbank to Hawick and Carlisle.

Turner & Townsend will provide project management services to support the feasibility studies and economic impact analysis.

This follows the UK and Scottish governments’ confirmation of up to £10m of funding through the Borderlands Inclusive Growth Deal. The initial contract is for two years.

‘Our involvement in the successful completion of the initial railway project to Tweedbank, coupled with our strong relationship with Scottish Borders Council, has laid a solid foundation for this next phase’, said Steve Jackson, Director of UK Infrastructure at Turner & Townsend, on August 4. ‘We look forward to driving this project forward, making a positive impact on the region.’
