D Gauge

UK: Quality and safety organisation TÜV Rheinland has acquired railway gauging and clearance assessment consultancy D/Gauge, which will be fully integrated into its structure as a subsidiary of TÜV Rheinland UK.

TÜV Rheinland said the acquisition was an important foundation for further growth in the rail technology sector in the UK and ‘far beyond’.

‘D/Gauge’s services perfectly complement our portfolio, which has already been confirmed in numerous joint customer projects in the UK’, said Dr Matthias Schubert, Executive Vice-President Mobility, on January 12. ‘We both serve many common key accounts, such as Network Rail, Hitachi, and others. The merger will further strengthen our customer offering.’

D/Gauge was founded as a family business by Dr David Johnson in 2008 and now has 28 staff. There is growing demand for the simulation tools it has developed, which Schubert said ‘promise tremendous scalability based on an excellent customer network and can also be easily scaled internationally through our well-established sales channels’.
