M Group Services company Antagrade Electrical has completed the supply, installation, testing and commissioning of a substation on the Tyne & Wear Metro network in South Shields, acting as subcontractor to Galliford Try. The substation will provide traction power to a new £9m training facility, which has facilities to stable and maintain Metro trains overnight.

Chris Heaton-Harris Project SPEED event

The long-awaited release of what is now known as the Williams-Shapps Review will be ‘very soon’, Rail Minister Chris Heaton-Harris told the Railway Industry Association’s Project SPEED conference on February 26. ‘There will be a lot more to say in the coming weeks’, he said, although adding ‘I hope we don’t get struck by local government purdah.’ This would require publication before March 26.

South Western Railway has announced that Claire Mann will take up the role of Managing Director on March 22, succeeding interim Managing Director, Mike Houghton, who returns to his role as Chief Operating Officer. ‘With the roll out of the new Arterio fleet and Island Line transformation both set to be delivered this year, it is an exciting time for the customers and communities SWR serves, and we are delighted to have Claire in the driving seat’, said First Rail Managing Director Steve Montgomery.
