Trainline has introduced push notifications via its apps which automatically alert customers if their booked journey is delayed by 15 min for single leg trips and 5 min for multi-leg journeys.

Tratos UK has obtained Network Rail Certificate of Acceptance PA05/07385 for its Aluminium Stranded earthing and bonding conductor cables for 25 kV 50 Hz equipment. The cable includes PVC insulation containing an ultraviolet inhibitor and can be used in tunnels and areas subject to low smoke and zero halogen regulations.

Travel e-commerce company Culture Trip and media agency the7Stars have developed and launched a customised marketing campaign to promote GWR. A dedicated GWR branded hub on the Culture Trip website provides articles with custom photography as well as ‘inspirational, authentic’ videos featuring real people talking about destinations.

Greater Anglia Stadler electric train

Greater Anglia has launched an online ‘green hub’ with a carbon calculator enabling travellers to see the benefits of switching from car to train.

Forth Bridge visitor hub

Network Rail has submitted a pre-application notice to City of Edinburgh Council for revised proposals to install a bridge walk and visitor centre on the South Queensferry side of the Forth Bridge, including a low-level building further from neighbouring houses. A full planning application will follow later this year.

On August 9 Andy Odell of Tarka Associates Ltd began working as Policing & Security Transition Advisor to the Rail Delivery Group, succeeding Mark Newton who had himself taken over from Odell in 2017.

Secretary of State for Transport Grant Shapps has appointed former MP Tom Harris to the HS2 Ltd board for a three-year term from July 1; he had been a non-executive director since July last year. The process to appoint a new Chair is underway following Allan Cook’s departure on July 31.
