A joint venture of Mott MacDonald and WSP has been awarded a contract to provide technical and management resources to support East West Railway Co in preparing to apply for a development consent order which would authorise construction of new infrastructure. Scope will include preliminary engineering and systems design, environmental assessment and management of the statutory processes.

TransPennine Express has installed British Sign Language message boards from LB Foster’s Inform Media range at Huddersfield station, with 18 more stations planned to follow.

BT has been awarded a £16m+VAT extendable two-year contract to use mobile network data to help Network Rail understand passenger movements across the network.

The Rail Delivery Group has called tenders for a full-service advertising and marketing agency to develop a creative strategy and advertising to drive demand for train travel and optimise sales of products such as Railcards. The renewable two-year contract would include all other RDG, Great British Railway Transition Team and National Rail activities that may occur on an ad-hoc basis.

South Western Railway Managing Director Claire Mann joined the Rail Safety & Standards Board as a non-executive director on November 30.



Network Rail is looking to understand if there is recording equipment already available on the market that can be fitted to a Track Recording Vehicle to measure the static and dynamic gauge of track simultaneously, then provide an overall value of how much the gauge has changed under load. This would provide maintenance teams with an understanding of component resilience caused by vehicle lateral forces on the track.

Cleaning, security, events and retail facilities company Carlisle Support Services, which works with 13 train operators, has appointed Steve Cere as Director of Rail Strategy. He previously worked for Virgin Trains, Northern and CSS.
