UK: Worksop-based Explore has divested its Civil Plant & Tool Hire division as part of a strategy to focus on its Transport and Rail Plant businesses.
Explore previously operated as a 50:50 joint venture between Laing O’Rouke’s Select Plant Hire and WS Transport. Select Plant Hire has now acquired the Civil Plant & Tool hire segment of the business, leaving the Transport and Rail Plant divisions under the sole ownership of WS Transport.
Explore has seven depots, more than 175 road vehicles and over 100 rail plant hire assets, with 300 employees across the UK. It will continue to act as the exclusive haulage provider to the Laing O’Rourke group.
The transaction was completed with an ’eight-figure’ funding package from HSBC UK.
