UK: GB Railfreight has selected leasing company Porterbrook to finance an order for 100 Greenbrier 60 ft intermodal twin wagons, following an ‘extended commercial exercise’.

The contract will initially operate as a 10-year dry lease. The first batch of wagons are scheduled to be completed in August 2022, with deliveries running at a rate of 10 per month until summer 2023.

Announcing the deal on March 22, Porterbrook CEO Mary Grant said the agreement built on a 15 year relationship between the rolling stock company and operator, and ‘signifies a renewed commitment by Porterbrook to investing in rail freight, which has a key role to play in reducing long distance lorry movements and supporting the green recovery’.
