UK: München-based transport AI and internet-of-things company Konux has launched its CoBrix platform in the UK. It is now engaging with operators, suppliers and potential technology partners to explore opportunities to pilot the use of its technology to predict infrastructure failures months in advance.

In Germany, Konux works with Deutsche Bahn to monitor over 1 620 turnouts, and during seven years of continuous data collection it has achieved a 40% reduction in downtime for repairs through earlier intervention before a failure would have occurred, more than 50% improvement in maintenance effectiveness and ‘measurable’ financial returns through fewer delay minutes. It has other deployments across Europe, and pilots underway in North America and Australia.

The company said that it can integrate diverse asset data across operators, OEMs and technology partners while preserving data sovereignty.

‘We can address some of the UK’s most persistent rail delays without laying a single new track’, according to Konux adviser Steve Featherstone. ‘By combining AI, modular IoT and a federated data platform, we can focus resources where they are most needed, improving punctuality and reducing costs.’

Konux Chairman Klaus Kleinfeld said ‘the UK rail system can leapfrog decades of incremental change by adopting collaborative, data-driven infrastructure management. CoBrix is built to integrate with existing systems, accelerate innovation and deliver measurable results.’
