AWARDS: Businesses and organisations across the UK rail sector have been given an extra two weeks to submit their entries for the 24th Rail Business Awards.

While submissions and nominations have been coming in strongly, we recognised that some companies’ preparations might have been impacted by the coronavirus pandemic and the priority of attracting passengers and freight customers back to the railway.

The entry deadline has therefore been extended to Friday October 8, in order to give a bit more time for those in the process of finalising their submissions. Entry packs and criteria for the 18 awards up for contention this year can still be downloaded from www.railbusinessawards.com.

‘Without doubt, 2020-21 has been a difficult year for the UK railway, with Covid-19 posing many challenges’, said Railway Gazette Group Editor-in-Chief Chris Jackson. ‘However, we know that adversity has produced many positive initiatives that deserve to be acknowledged and celebrated, and we want to ensure that everyone who wishes has time to get their entries in.’

Our independent judging panel is looking forward to reviewing a wide mix of entries highlighting the many people and projects that have contributed to the success and sustainability of the UK rail sector. And we are particularly keen to welcome entries for our new Wellbeing in Rail award, supported by the cross-industry Rail Wellbeing Alliance.

The winners of the 24th Rail Business Awards will be announced at a gala evening at the Royal Lancaster London on Wednesday February 23 2022. While we are all looking forward to getting together again, arrangements for the event will respect government guidelines and the Covid-19 situation at the time.
