UK: Marine civil engineering services company TMS Maritime has completed repairs to the sea wall at Sprey Point between Dawlish and Teignmouth, where the seaward face suffered significant damage from Storm Chandra and a substantial sink hole closed the footpath adjacent to the line.

TMS was engaged by the principal contractor for repairs across the Western Minor Works framework.

Challenges included persistently poor weather, high tides and onshore swell. Getting more than 400 tonnes of bulk material to site involved moving materials along the beach and facilitating delivery through a number of night-time rail closures.

TMS Maritime is continuing to support works on the line, with upcoming phases involving its stonemasons rebuilding sections of the parapet wall between Dawlish and Dawlish Warren. TMS said this would prevent future failure while ensuring an aesthetic fit with the surroundings.
