UK: Voestalpine Railway Systems has acquired 100% of the shares of insulated joint manufacturer Hird Rail Services. The Austrian company said this will strengthen its position in the UK market, with Hird bringing local market knowledge as well as specialist products offering durability and technical precision.

‘With Hird Rail Services, we are integrating a proven expert whose products meet the highest technical standards – especially in the safety-critical area of insulated joint technology. This step is fully aligned with our UK strategy to combine global excellence with strong local presence’, said Franz Kainersdorfer, head of Voestalpine’s Metal Engineering Division, on July 17.
