Chittaranjan Locomotive Works held a vendors development meeting on January 27 with the aim of attracting new suppliers and enhancing the product ranges of existing suppliers. The Indian Railways company places a particular emphasis on the indigenisation of electric locomotive components which are currently imported.

Alstom has acquired B&C Transit, a Californian company which specialises in signalling and communications design and construction services for passenger rail operators in the USA and Canada. Alstom said the deal would extend its systems engineering and lineside application capabilities, expand its portfolio and reinforce its presence on the west coast. ‘B&C Transit’s expertise in signalling and communications engineering and design is the perfect complement to Alstom’s advanced technology’, said Jérôme Wallut, Senior Vice-President for Alstom North America. ’Customers will benefit from additional resource capacity and an extensive footprint across North America that will further enable localised development, delivery and support.’

Trinity Industries Leasing Co has released a framework enabling it to issue Green Financing instruments, including non-recourse ABS bonds and loans supported by eligible assets. Currently eight of TILC’s outstanding debt financings, representing over $4bn of wagon-related debt, qualify for the Green Financing designation. Crédit Agricole CIB acted as Trinity’s green structuring adviser, and Sustainalytics supported the process.

Belden Inc has entered into a US$71m definitive agreement to acquire OTN Systems, a privately-held Belgian company which provides networking technology for applications in harsh, mission-critical environments including transport.

Thomas LeBeau and Darwin Desen have joined WSP USA’s transit and rail team, LeBeau as Market Lead and Desen as Senior Managing Director.

The Greenbrier Companies has appointed retired admiral Thomas B Fargo to the Lead Director position. He joined the board in 2015 as an independent director and has chaired the compensation committee since 2017. Fargo succeeds Duane McDougall, who remains an independent director and member of all Greenbrier board committees.
