POLAND: City transport authority MPK Kraków officially inaugurated a new tram and bus washing plant at its Nowa Huta depot on February 8.

This replaces a washing plant commissioned in the 1980s, which was unheated and could therefore not operate all year round. The new plant is heated and uses recycled rainwater.

The plant forms part of a 20m złoty depot modernisation project carried out by Budimex. A 108·7 m long, 16·3 m wide and 9·5 m high hall has been built, along with additional stabling tracks, a through track to bypass the washing plant, a warehouse, facilities for employees and a battery charging station for electric buses.

MPK also presented a road-rail vehicle for towing and re-railing trams, and a road vehicle for towing and repairing buses.
