STADLER RAIL: InnoTrans 2014 will provide the first chance for people outside Belarus to see the prototype Metelica tram, which the Stadler Minsk joint venture of Stadler and Belkommunmash has developed as a simple and robust vehicle for use in harsh climates.

Stadler will also be displaying two Flirt3 electric multiple-units. One will be a four-car unit ordered by Serbian Railways for use around Beograd, and the second a five-car version which DB Regio is to deploy in Rheinland-Pfalz.

Indoors will be 1:20 scale models of the 249 km/h trainsets recently ordered by SBB which took Stadler into the fast inter-city train market, the prototype metro train being built for the Berlin U-Bahn, and a Flirt3 suburban EMU for Łódź (RG 7.14 p60). Reflecting Stadler’s eastwards growth, there will also be models of the double-deck Kiss EMUs being built for Russia’s Aeroexpress and sleeping cars ordered for Azerbaijan.

Stadler’s Service division will be at InnoTrans for the first time, highlighting the expansion of the groups’ maintenance, repair and modernisation activities.

If none of the vehicles on show take your fancy, there will be an ‘interactive area’ offering the chance to design your own train. Highlighting the individual nature of many of Stadler’s products, touch screens will enable visitors to give their creativity free reign to select the length, width and colour of their perfect trainset.
