UZBEKISTAN: Russian development bank VEB.RF and the National Bank of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Foreign Economic Activity have signed a €28m loan agreement for the purchase of rolling stock for a metro line being built in Toshkent.

In October national railway UTY signed a contract with Transmashholding subsidiary Metrowagonmash for the supply of five four-car metro trainsets and related equipment.

The trains are to be used on the elevated 7·1 km Sergili Line, which is due to open in 2021. Starting at the Olmazor terminus of the Toshkent metro’s existing Chilonzor Line, the Sergili Line will run south above Choshtepa, Mirzo Tursunzoda and Qipchoq streets, serving six stations.
