BOMBARDIER Transportation has reported revenues of C$1·6bn for the three months to July 31, compared to C$752·7m in the same period last year. Income before taxes and goodwill amortisation was C$77·8m, up from C$37·6m.

The increase is the result of Bombardier’s takeover of Adtranz on April 1, and large contracts with the New York subway and Virgin Rail. During the second quarter, Bombardier Transportation signed contracts in seven countries worth a total of C$805m. Bombardier Transportation’s current C$20bn order backlog represents an increase of more than 127% during the quarter, thanks to the new contracts and the inclusion of former Adtranz orders.

The growth at Transportation lifted the consolidated turnover of Bombardier Inc by 44% to C$4·9bn for the three months.
