Consorcio de Transportes de Vizcaya has ordered a fleet of 10 metro trainsets at a cost of Pts10bn, to operate the future Line 2 of the Bilbao metro. The cars will be built by CAF, with electrical equipment from Adtranz, which has also been contracted to supply and install the electrical infrastructure along the line.

CAPTION: Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat de Catalunya has completed the 1·5 kV DC electrification of its metre-gauge Llobregat-Anoia lines from Barcelona to Martorell, Igualada and Manresa. From February 1 the first eight Series 213 three-car EMUs, being built by CAF and Alstom Transport, have replaced the Series 3000 and 8000 DMUs, offering faster and more frequent services. The EMUs are derived from the Series 112s used on FGC’s standard-gauge Barcelona - Vallès line; another 12 will replace Series 5000 cars later this year
