ALL TRAINS running on Swiss Federal Railways’ Mattstetten - Rothrist line now use Level 2 ETCS. SBB announced on March 22 that the switchover had been completed on March 18, with around 250 passenger and freight trains operating every 24?h.Trains run at 2?min intervals at speeds of 160?km/h, making this the first production application of Level 2 on a busy main line - the number of Trenitalia services running on the Italian high speed lines fitted with Level 2 is substantially lower.SBB plans to increase the maximum speed of passenger services on the Mattstetten - Rothrist line to 200?km/h in time for the timetable change in December.Limited commercial services using Level 2 on the route began in July 2006.n
