STEMMANN Technik will be displaying a tramway contact wire Non-Icing System which is helping Bremen Tramway reduce carbon and contact wire wear, damage to vehicle electronics and in-service failures.

It uses compressed air to feed a pantograph-mounted hollow felt roll with glycerine via a hose. The anti-freeze is rolled onto the contact wire, then is reabsorbed by the felt roll and stored inside the tram for cleaning and reuse or disposal. The device can be used in temperatures down to -15íC, and at speeds of up to 30 km/h.
