Following two and a half years of development, FLIR Systems has developed an infrared thermographic camera capable of processing images taken from a train travelling at line speed. This advance should enable engineers to undertake thermal imaging of infrastructure without recourse to time-consuming and costly possessions. The ThermoVision SC6000HS can deliver 14-bit digital data at rates of up to 50 megapixels per second, delivering 125 Hz of 640 x 512 imagery. In a metro environment, FLIR believes that the thermal imaging equipment could see overheating points or faulty insulator pots identified using thermographic images taken from passing service trains.FLIR Systems, UK
