MOTIONPOSTER has agreed terms with BKV to install four moving image advertising units in Budapest metro tunnels. An agreement has also been signed for two sites in Athens, and MotionPoster is negotiating with 14 other operators.

Each unit has 168 A2-sized back-illuminated posters arranged along 100m of tunnel. Electronic controls automatically detect the presence of a train, and turn the lighting on and off as appropriate. This gives passengers the effect of a 7 sec moving image as they travel through tunnels.

MotionPoster is able to handle different rolling stock types; it calculates the required frame rate from train speed and acceleration. It takes approximately 2 h to replace the posters at the end of a campaign. The system cost £12m to develop.
