Czech Republic: Praha metro Line A is to be extended 1 km from Skalka to Hostivar, using an existing depot access tunnel. A new terminal station will be built as part of the KC600m project, on which work will begin in July. 10 companies have bid to build a 3·5 km tram route from Hlubocepy to Barrandov by the start of 2004, costed at KC2bn.

A consortium of Skoda Plzen and Inekon Group Praha has won a contract to supply two further Astra 03T low-floor trams with asynchronous traction motors to Portland, Oregon. The first of the initial batch of five ordered in 1999 was rolled out on January 23, and all five will arrive in Portland by March.

France: The municipality of Créteil has voted to contribute Fr30m to a 1·8 km extension of RATP’s Line 8 from Créteil Préfecture to Créteil Parc des Sports. Work is expected to begin in 2003 for completion in 2006. The government and ?«le-de-France region are to meet the rest of the Fr400m project cost.
