ON FEBRUARY 7 Eurostar Group announced that it had awarded a three-year contract to provide onboard catering to Momentum, a new joint venture of Cremonini SpA of Italy (51%) and Granada Food Services of Great Britain (49%). Starting on June 1, the new contract is worth £40m in turnover a year and contains extension options for a total of four years.

Managing Director Joseph Zaidan said that Momentum brings together companies that are ’market leaders in their own countries’, and will afford Eurostar the benefits of ’new ideas and enhanced customer services training’. Cremonini’s current activities include on-train catering in Italy, Switzerland and France through its Agape division. Within the transport sector, Granada Food Services operates restaurants and bars at airports in Britain, as well as providing catering on P&O European Ferries services from Portsmouth.
