Maghreb Rail (map)

This detailed 70x100 cm colour relief map covers at 1:2350000 scale Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia and Libya - a region whose railway geography is unfamiliar to many. Colour coding and hatching is used effectively to distinguish four different gauges, single and double track, electrification, closed and projected lines. Also differentiated are normal, border, freight-only and airport stations, depots and workshops and motorail terminals. There is a station index, and an enlargement of Tunis highlights the Tunis light rail network and the Tunis - La Marsa railway. ISBN 90-73280-09-5

A Decade of Technical Innovation

East Japan Railway has produced a 66-page publication highlighting 10 years of achievements since its inception as part of the JNR break-up in 1987. The softback is mostly pictorial and very colourful, and subjects covered include modernisation, automating workshops, computerisation, new trains and services, and environmental issues. Even JR East’s tourist hotels, caravan parks and innovative toilet designs are featured.
