The company said passengers could expect ‘stunning’ scenery including canyons, mountains, desert cliffs and rock formations, along with ‘spacious’ glass-domed coaches, onboard storytelling and a social atmosphere. At-seat meals are prepared using ingredients local to the southwestern USA.

‘This new route is a celebration that has been several years in the making as we continuously seek unique locations with incredible scenery and iconic destinations that are best experienced by train’, said Peter Armstrong, founder and interim CEO of Rocky Mountaineer which also operates three routes in western Canada.

The inaugural Rockies to the Red Rocks train ran on August 15, starting a preview season which runs until November 19. A seven-month season is planned for 2022. Prices start from  $1 250  per person.
