CANADA: Calgary Transit has rolled out Masabi’s My Fare contactless mobile ticketing platform across its network, following a pilot project on four routes.
Fare products available on the mobile app include monthly and day passes as well as single ride and airport tickets. The platform includes an option for the operator to add account-based ticketing in the future.
Noting that people are now using smartphones in almost all aspects of their daily lives, Masabi CEO Brian Zanghi said on July 1 that this ‘made offering the option for riders to use their phone instead of a paper ticket a logical step’.
‘The change in people’s behaviour brought about by the current requirement for social distancing has made mobile ticketing and the move towards a more contactless journey experience a must-have for transit agencies’, he added.
