GERMANY: Berlin transport operator BVG has commissioned PSI Transcom to supply its PSItraffic software to support the management of operations on the metro network.

PSI said the system would control and monitor ‘the largest contiguous public transport network of this kind in Germany’, managing the U-Bahn and around 1 200 vehicles from one central control centre.

The system will help optimise train scheduling, timetable management and train monitoring, with the graphical interface cusomtised to BVG’s specific requirements.

The contract also includes the implementation of interfaces to existing interlocking control, vehicle identification, digital radio, timetable planning, passenger information and data supply systems.
