ARGENTINA: As part of Trenes Argentinos’ coronavirus measures, Indra has integrated body temperature measurement, face mask control and QR code ticket reservation validation into an initial 350 station ticket gates in the Buenos Aires metropolitan area.

The system is directly connected to the operator’s ticketing database, so that only essential workers with confirmed reservations can access the network at peak times.

Passengers first show a QR code to the access control device, then stand about 0·5 m from it while measures their temperature and verifies mask use by combining facial recognition with thermal and visible light imaging. If approved, the passenger can then pay with a SUBE card and pass through the ticket gate.

Audio alerts are activated when access is authorised or denied, with a visual aid for people with hearing impairments.
