The Public Transport Authority of Western Australia (PTA), is an innovative Government agency and a highly sought-after employer. The PTA is offering once in a lifetime opportunities to work on major rail infrastructure projects across the state. The PTA is looking for experienced engineers and transport professionals to help build and maintain the state’s public transport network.

The PTA currently has four (4) roles within the Network & Infrastructure (N&I) Division which we are seeking to fill immediately; Linespersons, Senior Linespersons Overhead Supervisor and an Overhead Superintendent.

A Linesperson carries out inspections, maintenance and construction of the overhead line equipment (OLE) and coordinates and isolates substations and network equipment. A Linesperson requires experience working on overhead maintenance.

A Senior Linesperson requires significant OLE rail experience including the construction, fault finding, repair and maintenance tasks involved in rail overhead equipment. These roles need people with leadership skills to supervise and mentor the junior staff.

Both levels of Linespersons require good literacy, numeracy, communication abilities to plan work and successfully complete the tasks assigned to you and your team. Experience within a rail environment is also an essential requirement of these roles.

An Overhead Supervisor ensures the operational performance of all OLE so that it is safe, reliable and cost effective and that all maintenance, repairs and associated works are completed to the PTA’s relevant standards and customer requirements. This role prepares technical reports on maintenance and repair activities and is involved in investigations and reporting of all OLE incidents. Supervising staff and driving team performance through the assessment and identification of competence are critical deliverables of this role.

An Overhead Superintendent is responsible for the leadership and management of the Overhead Line Equipment (OLE) maintenance team activities which include routine maintenance, construction, upgrades and modifications of the branch assets; contributing to the overall performance, reliability and compliance of the PTA.
